It’s finally here! And it’s been here for a couple of months. But, the long-awaited Single Column Verse-by-Verse Preaching Bible from Crossway is finally available! It comes just one year after it’s predecessor, the Single Column Preaching Bible, which was not a Verse-by-Verse. This is a beautiful Bible. I have been able to use it for over a month of preaching and teaching with it and I just love the layout of it. It’s Clean! So, let’s break it down!

First, it is a goatskin cover with a red under gold art gilt on the page edges and the Bible is smyth-sewn. When you receive this Bible, it comes in a black box with gold imprinting on the front of it. Now, the goatskin cover isn’t like the premium Bibles that Crossway had done in the Netherlands, but this is one of the best premiums I’ve seen bound in China, which is where Crossway is currently having their Bibles bound at. However, I just received word that Crossway is moving some of their premiums back to the Netherlands. I’m not real sure if this will be one of them. In any case, this goatskin cover is a beautiful cover. It’s flexible and grainy (I love a grainy goatskin cover).
This Bible comes with 2 thin black ribbons. I haven’t been a fan of Crossway’s ribbons. I wish they would upgrade the type of ribbon to something a little thicker and more premium, but it’s simple to replace the ribbons if you would like to. There are many videos on YouTube that will show you how.

The inside of the Bible cover is a black calfskin liner and a gold perimeter gilt line that really makes the Bible look premium and professional. The pages of the Bible are fantastic. They are a thicker white paper. There is little ghosting which makes it easier to preach from so that the words are eligible. The margins are very wide for you to be able to take notes for study or to preach from and there are no cross-references so that the look of it is clean (I like that A LOT!). The footnotes are kept at the bottom of the page.

The Bible opens very nicely and stays flat. Makes it easier to lay on your podium to preach from and not have to hold it open. I haven’t had any issues with the pages flipping either, showing that the paper is a little thicker than your thinlines. I love how the verse numbers are clear with spacing around it so that it’s easier to find while preaching and they do seem to be a little bolder than the text.

All in all, this is a beautiful Bible that any ESV text preacher would love if you enjoy the single column and the verse-by-verse layout.
